Starting out as a travel writer in the 1990s, I had one goal: To write the stories I wasn’t reading elsewhere. Through the years, through dozens of countries and each of the fifty states, I’ve always worked hard to highlight the under-appreciated, as well as find fresh takes on popular places.
After accumulating nearly twenty years of experience, I’ve come to believe that besides telling good stories, a travel writer’s #1 job is not to please the industry, but rather to advocate tirelessly for the consumer, particularly here in the United States, where we have—and take—so little time away each year. I still want to tell you about places you may have never considered going, or new ways to experience places you already know and love, but I’m also here to help you travel smarter, more affordably, and—hopefully—more frequently.
I want you to see as much of the world as you can (it’s true, what they say—travel does change your life for the better) and I want you to spend as little doing so as possible, so you can get back out there sooner and see even more. That’s why I’m here. That’s why this site exists. I hope you find it helpful and I hope you’ll share it with the people you care about.
